Scotland Vacation

20 – 26 Oct 2007 –  Danny had chosen Scotland as our first vacation since we came to UK.   17 years ago, Aberdeen was the place where he spent 2 years studied in University and did part-time work. 

We started our journey by taking GNER train at 9.55am and we reached Aberdeen at 6pm.  It was a long 8 hours train ride! But, the scenery along the journey did compensate us. 

We spent a lot of time traveling in car as well.  We drove 650 miles in 5 days.  We had a very good Chinese meal and Dim Sum in Aberdeen.  We visited Danny’s university and places like where he lived, worked, get supper and beer :-)   Then, we headed to Inverness. Along the way, we visited the Official Loch Ness Exhibition at Drumnadrochit, where it presented the photographic evidence and wide variety of scientific explanations about the Sea Monster “Nessie”.  We also visited Urquhart Castle before stopped at Inverness for a night.  The next day, we drove along Loch Ness, and off we went to the highland and Isle of Skpe.  We stopped at Potree for a night and had seafood dinner.   I felt ill after the dinner and my face turned ‘red’.  I don’t think I’m allergy to Seafood.  Luckily, I recovered the next morning.  We spent 2 nights in Fort William, one of the major towns on the west coast.  It located at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain’s hightest mountain .  One of it’s famous attractions is the Nevis Range Gondola, which is a ski centre as well.  We took gondola (cable car) up to 2150ft on the north face of Aonach Mor, the eighth highest mountain in Britain. Danny managed to climbed to be peak without any preparation.  
 
We were very lucky to had good weather in Scotland. Sunshine & Blue Sky. It got very chilly at night and in the morning though, it dropped to 2-3 degree. We seen beautiful mountains, lakes, castle, and the scenery was beautiful in autumn.  I must said YH & YX were very well-behaved kids as they had been sitting in the car for the whole day without any entertainment.
