Wonderful Christmas

This was our first Christmas in England.  Christmas preparation started since November and people celebrated Christmas in the whole month of December.   Supermarkets and shops get really busy in this festive seasons, especially Christmas Eve.  I had to queue at the Butcher shop for an hour, in order to collect my order .  However, this was an enjoyable ‘busy’ time because this was the time when everybody get together and enjoy.

7 Dec 2007 – We had our Christmas Dinner early this year, ie before the DEAs left to States.  Danny took a day off and be the Chef that night.

11-12 Dec 2007 – The Nativity performance in school.  It let the children understand the true meaning of Christmas, which is about the birth of Jesus.

22 Dec 2007 – We went to the Nene Valley Railway without any plan.  Coincidentaly, there was a ‘Santa Special’ event going on, whereby children could go into the Santa’s Cabin to visit Santa (of course they came out with a present) and took a 55 minute train ride from Wansford.  We were lucky to get the last minute tickets as we were told that the tickets were booked since August.  Tickets cost GBP60 (SGD180)!  But, if the children enjoyed it, I think it’s worth it.

24 Dec 2007 – We went to St Benedict’s Church, Glinton on Christmas Eve. The Christmas Carol was fantastic.  Thereafter, we proceed to the local Pub for a couple of drinks with Sarah and Simon.

25 Dec 2007 – YH and YX woke up very early to check if Father Christmas been to our house.  They were so happy when they found the presents in front of the fireplace.   We drove to Amy’s house and had our Christmas dinner.  Mark was the chef, with Jamie Oliver’s recipe – Christmas Goose.  Yummy!

26 Dec 2007 – Chinese food on Boxing Day at our home with Desmond, Patricia, Mark, Amy, Joshua and Emily.
