Race for life

24 Jun 08 – I taken part in Race For Life in Peterborough, at Ferry Meadow in memory of my beloved mum who died of breast cancer 6 years ago. Race for Life is a series of UK-wide women-only fundraising events orgranised by the British charity Cancer Research UK. There were 3,000 women of all ages ran, walked, jogged 5 km, including girls as young as Yi Xuen, baby in stroller, senior citizens and even disabled. We wore an official number in front and a back sign behind. The back sign was for the participant to wrote their story or what inspire them to part in Race for Life. I almost in tears when I read some of the stories. I felt overwhemled to see cancer has effected so many people lives. It brought back so much painful memories of my mum. Our family was struggled financially and emotionlly during my mum last 5 years battling with cancer. Although my mum was very positive and strong but I know she kept everything to herself even she suffered a lot, a lot. My sisters and I regret that we haven’t had a chance to provide her a comfortable life. We really miss her.

Thanks for my sisters and Wee Ing for sponsoring me in Race for Life.

Min — you should be very proud of yourself for participating in such a wonderful and worthwhile event. I know you miss your mum a great deal — but know that she is no longer suffering and she is looking down on you from above with much happiness.
