Auntie Yen and Chloe visited Stamford

October 20, 2008

Day 2 – I love to bring my guest to the Burghley House and Stamford town. It’s a MUST! Although I have been to the Burghley several times, but, today is the first time I go IN the house. It was built in the mid-16th Century, Burghley House belonged to William Cecil, Lord Treasurer to Elizabeth I. However, Cecil hardly lived in as he always away at Court in London. It has passed down the generations in a good state for the public viewing today. It is not just a historic country house, Burghley has been the set for a number of films including Pride and Prejudice and the Da Vinci Code. Auntie Yen was impressed by the paintings, antiques, furnishing and more. What’s more, we went to Stamford for English breakfast and shopping!

Auntie Yen and Cousin Chloe come to England

October 19, 2008

We are so happy to have auntie Yen and Chloe come to visit and stay with us for 2 weeks. Auntie Yen (my twin sister) and Chloe departed at 11pm from Singapore and arrived in England about 6am. Danny and Yi Hong fetched them from the airport while I bought Yi Xuen to the ballet Auntie Yen had brought us so many presents, like Nintendo DS and games (including FIFA09, which released recently), Barbie dolls, cloths, bags, magazines, CDs and lots and lots of goodie. Thank you auntie Yen and auntie Yue and grandauntie Selina for all these presents. Chloe adapt very well and didn’t even has jet-lag. They met our neighbours and friends (Kevin & Corrina, Simon & Sarah and kids) in the afternoon. Auntie Yen is so happy to see we have such a good neighbourhood. In the evening, we had chinese meal at our favourite restaurant and we bump into Becki and Kent. On the next day, we drove to Cambridge. We took a guided punt tours of Cambridge, which is the best way to explore this ancient city. It was so nice to have family visit. Chloe wish she could stay here with us and I love them to stay here too!

Yi Xuen Pass her Driving Test

October 12, 2008

12 Oct 08 – This morning, Yi Xuen was feeling very confident (out of sudden) and wanted to try riding her bicycle without the stablizer. Danny helped her practised in front of our house and in Burghley Park (We NEED to go out because the weather was surprisngly good). She did it in barely an hour. She even challenged Leo (our neighbour) for a race. Erm….. over confident.

Bad Hair Day

October 12, 2008

10 Oct 08 – This Friday was the ‘Bad Hair Day’ in school, one of the fundraising events in school. Children with funky hairstyle would be fined 50 pence. It was absolutely hilarious. I wonder how the teachers could concentrate in class. Yi Xuen had curly hair as she always wanted and she turned out to have a ‘good hair day’ instead.

Berries Picking

October 12, 2008

We discovered a new fun activity recently, ie Blackberry picking, as we could find loads of blackberry bushes along the roads and public footpaths in our village. Thanks to Corrina for telling us and also the Apple Berries Crumble recipe. The crumble is absolutely delicious and we also have the berries for our breakfast cereal as well. It’s healthy, yummy and it’s FREE!!!!
