Pick-Your-Own

July 20, 2008

20 Jul 2008 – July is the fruit harvest time and Danny suggested we go ‘Pick-Your-Own’ fruit in farm. Due to road diversion and got lost, we finally found a farm in Wigtoft after 1 1/2 hour drive (which normally takes 29 min). The farm was surrounded by soft fruit plants, like strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants etc. We had a great day in the fresh air and spend time picking our own fruit. And it is very CHEAP, only GBP1 per lbs. A basket of raspberries only cost us GBP4and a box of Blackberries for GBP0.80 (which I normally pay at least GBP2 for that). Thumbs up!

TGIF – Thank God is Friday

July 20, 2008

18 Jul 2008 – It was a busy, busy day. Thanks to England weather,YH & YX’s school successfully run it’s Sports Day as planned. Children got the opportunity to participate in 10 events before the traditional race in the afternoon. I volunteered to help out in monitoring one of the event. A lot of parents turned out to support their children as early as 11am. During lunch time, we had a chance to have picnic lunch with our children in the school field. It was very nice. YX came in 3rd place in one of the race.
After Sports Day, we rush back to have dinner/tea and get changed and prepared for the ‘Beach Party Disco’ in school at 5pm. Disco party is very popular in school as the children will dance under disco light, play games, enjoy the ‘non restrict’ refreshment, and have fun. Surprisingly, Yi Hong won the ‘Best Boy Dancer’, I seldom saw him dance.
We were worned-out at the end of the day. TGIF, I could have a good rest and enjoy the beautiful weekend.

Lincoln

July 17, 2008

13 Jul 2008 – Lincoln, a highly recommended place by Corrina (our neighbour&close friend). It is one of England’s most beautiful Cathedral Cities, just slightly more than an hour drive from our home. This is one of the reasons why I love living in England, we could explore to different places and visit so many attractions during the weekend. In Singapore, we would ‘explore’ different shopping mall instead. We visited the famous Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral. Lincoln is a beautiful city with historical places and modern buildings. I have to agreed with Corrina, a nice place to visit.

Waddington Air Show

July 17, 2008

6 Jul 2008 – We went to Royal Air Force Station Waddington in Lincolnshire to see the yearly RAF Waddington Air Show. Waddington is considered by many to be the traditional heartland and spiritual home of the Royal Air Force, has been host since 1995 to the RAF’s biggest air show. The windy, cloudy, rainny weather didn’t stop the amazing crowds of 70,000 people. We were thrilled by a very varied and international flying and static display. Danny, a air show fan, has snapped tones of photos.

Happy 7th Birthday, Yi Hong!

July 17, 2008

Yi Hong was born on 9 July 2001 at 6.46pm, in Singapore; weight 3.89kg. He is 7 years old and he is a little ‘man’ now. But, he is still Mummy & Daddy’s baby and he said he will stay ‘single’ so he can be with us forever. We love him so much.
We hold a cinema party for his birthday and invited 9 boys from his class to watched ‘KungFu Panda’ on Saturday. I thought it would be a good idea to get 10 boys sitting quietly for 2 1/2 hours. Well, they were very well-behaved thru out the film. Except they got too excited when they came out from the theatre and started demonstrate their ‘KungFu’ skills. After that, they had the McDonald ‘KungFu’ Happy Meal in a ‘party room’. Yi Hong had a wonderful time with his friends and he love all his presents, of course.

Runaway Kid

July 9, 2008

Yi Xuen was very cross (angry) when we enforced speaking Chinese at home. She was so cross untill she decided to packed her luggage and run away. When I questioned her, she said she is going to take a cab to the airport, get a flight to go back to Singapore, stay in a hotel and look for Yi Ma (my sister). I was speechless……

Race for life

July 1, 2008

24 Jun 08 – I taken part in Race For Life in Peterborough, at Ferry Meadow in memory of my beloved mum who died of breast cancer 6 years ago. Race for Life is a series of UK-wide women-only fundraising events orgranised by the British charity Cancer Research UK. There were 3,000 women of all ages ran, walked, jogged 5 km, including girls as young as Yi Xuen, baby in stroller, senior citizens and even disabled. We wore an official number in front and a back sign behind. The back sign was for the participant to wrote their story or what inspire them to part in Race for Life. I almost in tears when I read some of the stories. I felt overwhemled to see cancer has effected so many people lives. It brought back so much painful memories of my mum. Our family was struggled financially and emotionlly during my mum last 5 years battling with cancer. Although my mum was very positive and strong but I know she kept everything to herself even she suffered a lot, a lot. My sisters and I regret that we haven’t had a chance to provide her a comfortable life. We really miss her.

Thanks for my sisters and Wee Ing for sponsoring me in Race for Life.
