Brussels
This was our family holidays together with auntie Yen and Chloe. We took off on Friday afternoon. Our train to London was delayed and we almost missed our connecting train (Eurostar) to Belgium. Luckily we managed to got into the train and after that we enjoyed a glass of juice (not wine) and snacks while admire the beautiful scenery outside. We reached Brussels at 7pm and had trouble finding our way to the hotel. We tried asking a few people for direction, but, none of them understand English. This is not fun when it’s getting dark, hungry, tired and the children started whining. We had no choice but walked back to the train station and took a taxi. After checked in into the hotel, we had a very good Beijing Chinese meal nearby our hotel.
The next day, after enjoyed our hotel breakfast buffet, we started our Brussel tour. Brussels is the capital city of Belgium also be considered something of a capital for the European Union. It described as a city of stylish architecture, vibrant culture, lace and exceptional Chocolate. Belgium national dish ‘Mussels in White Wine served with Fries’ is Danny’s favourite. We tour around the city by FOOT! We had seen Grand’Place (Grote Markt), which surrounded by the city tower and a range of beautiful 300 year old buildings; Manneken Pis, the famous statue of a little boy peeing; The Bourse, stock market building; Flea market; Royal Palace; Notre Dame and Cathedral and lots of beautiful buildings.
Bruges
On the thrid day in Belgium, we travelled by train to another famous city – Brugge (Dutch: Brugge). Once a 13-century cloth making center and is one of the best preserved pre-motorised cities in Europe. We were impressed by the charming historic houses, canal, church, museum and the children love to see the horse drawn carts. Yi Hong thought Bruges is ‘Sonic, the Hedgehog’ town.
The next day, Danny and Yi Hong took a 12km cycling tour while the girls went shopping and had coffee & ice cream break. What a good idea! They cycle around the city and a place called Damme, which they described as beautiful and has many wonderful and atmospheric restaurants. Also, they discoved the Napoleon Canal. On the last night in Belgium, Yen was very kind to babysit the children so that Danny and I{ could go out for a romantic dinner. It was quite romantic but was in a Chinese restuarant. sigh…..
After 5 days holidays, we really miss our home. What’s more… The Dae invited us for dinner when we arrived home. Jeff & Sue (Corrina’s parent) were here for holiday and we were so happy to see them again. Corrina’s ‘Angel Chicken’ was so delicious, even the children had a few round. We also got to celebrate Sue’s belated birthday sang birthday song in English and Chinese version.
